Organization Description

The West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing, Inc. (WSFSSH) is a community‐based organization whose mission is to provide safe, affordable housing with supportive services within a residential setting which enhances the independence and dignity of each person.  WSFSSH develops, manages, and provides housing and social services for low‐ income older persons, many of whom live with mental illness and/or have experienced homelessness.

Summary Description

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Leasing, the chief responsibility of the Leasing Specialist is to support the Assistant Director of Leasing in achieving a high success rate with respect to completion of timely lease renewals, processing of rental subsidies, legal rent registration, and the leasing of new developments.  The Leasing Specialist serves as an additional support to WSFSSH building managers in these areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the tracking of pending NYC HPD and NYCHA applications and re-certifications to ensure timely approvals
  • Ability to manage large amounts of data such as annual contract rent increases, legal rents, rent rolls, file audit findings/responses, compliance deadlines, etc.
  • Assist with preparing reports as required for various city, state, and federal agencies in a complete and timely manner
  • Finalize initial leasing paperwork and hand file over to building
  • Assist with the HCR annual rent registration
  • Assist with contract rent increase/decrease requests to HPD and NYCHA
  • Prepare subsidy paperwork
  • Assist with maintaining merge fields and uploading leases, riders, and form letters into property management software OneSite
  • Assist with inputting information into the property management database
  • Prepare professional written correspondence
  • Assist with assembling files for review
  • Assist with lease-up of new WSFSSH developments
  • Coordinate with Building Managers and Income Certification Specialists on compliance matters
  • Occasional minute taking at meetings
  • Maintain both electronic and hardcopy files thoroughly, accurately, and uniformly
  • Travel between Central Office and other WSFSSH sites as necessary
  • Attend training sessions and conferences as required for enhancement of job skills
  • Assist with other duties as needed

Required Skills/Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in project management, affordable housing programs, income certification and/or subsidy/regulatory compliance, property management and/or other areas related to WSFSSH’s Leasing function
  • Excellent written and spoken communications skills
  • Strong office/organizational skills
  • Ability to problem-solve independently
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Internet search/usage
  • Experience with RealPage’s OneSite
  • The ability to liaise effectively with supervisor, asset management staff, and other WSFSSH employees throughout the organization to achieve the Asset Management Team’s goal


  • Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science Degree preferred
