Job Description:  Program Aide (Personal Care Aide) 

Under the supervision of the Administrator and Shift Supervisor, provide a range of services and supervision to the residents of 129th Street Residents with the goal of enabling residents to live permanently and as safely, happily, and independently as possible.

Services to Residents:

  • Supervise the personal hygiene and physical well-being of residents.
  • Assist residents in activities of daily living.
  • Assist with laundry services for assigned residents. Manage and report any issues with laundry procedures.
  • Assist residents in using the dining room, participating in activity programs and joining in the life of the facility.
  • Escort and provide advocacy for residents at medical and other appointments as directed.
  • Assist the housekeeping staff including assistance with general cleaning and other tasks as directed by Supervisor (Administrator / Shift Supervisor). Assist with maintenance and cleanliness of building (seeping and mopping as needed)


  • Work as a member of a team to establish and maintain a high level of care and respect for residents and maintain good communication with residents.
  • Work cooperatively with other staff members.
  • Share information about residents’ progress, needs, and problems with other staff members.
  • Attend training sessions and conferences as required for enhancement of job skills.
  • Implement emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Submit all required reports in a complete and timely manner.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Expected: 

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Emotionally, mentally, and physically able to perform job responsibilities.
  • Able to speak, read, and write English (as required by DOH regulation 487.9.13)


  • Minimum of one year experience working with dependent persons
  • Bilingual (Spanish) – Preferred but not required
